Injured Peace Corps volunteer says she's going back Posted: 07 Sep 2010 06:23 PM PDT Eugene (KMTR)- Brittany Mosher says after all she's been through- good and bad- in her first few months as a Peace Corps volunteer, it makes her want to see everything through to the end even more. In just five months in Guatemala, the Sheldon High and Oregon State grad has been through hurricanes, floods, attacked by wild dogs, and most recently, a bus crash that killed three of her colleagues just last week. She's back home in Eugene to rest for a few weeks with minor injuries from the crash. She's sharing her story because she wants others to know that the Peace Corps is an amazing experience. "I hope that it doesn't scare people seeing what I've been through," she says. "Because it's made me all the more stronger, all the more determined, all the more excited to do what I'm doing, and I want people to see that." Although it's a poor country, Brittany says Guatemala is wealthy in other ways. In just months, she feels like she has a second family and can see that she's making a difference in people's lives. There were more than a dozen people in the bus that crashed last week- and Brittany was the only one to walk away. But that means the health center where she works has lost half it's trained staff, so that's reason number one why she says she must go back.
