Grad embarks on unusual job search Posted: 26 Jul 2010 04:05 PM PDT PLANTATION, Fla. (WSVN) -- A college graduate is going to extreme measures to land a job. Adam Winter recently graduated with a degree in Hospitality Management. However, because of the tough job market, Winter has been unable to gain employment. The college grad decided to do something unusual to get noticed by potential employers: he set up a job search stand. "Hopefully, I can find something from this," said Winter. Winter, dressed in full business attire, sits at a desk near Peters Road, between University Drive and Pine Island Road, a high-traffic area. Winter is equipped with his resumes and letters of recommendation; in front of his desk is a sign that reads: "College graduate needs a job." Winter said, "It's kind of like a sales job, so the more people you can pass by, hopefully one of them will come by and help you out." Winter hopes his novel idea will help him get hired. "I just figured you got to be different to stand out, so I figured I would take a different approach than everyone else has been doing," he said. The college graduate's different approach seems to be working. Winter is getting support from residents who desire to help him out as much as they can. "We saw him sitting out here, so we wanted to get the resume and see what we might be able to do for him," one man said. "At least they're not sitting home, waiting for the unemployment check to come in." Winter said, "I've definitely made some networking skills." According to Winter, since he set up his job search stand, he has received some business cards and also has a few interviews lined up. (Copyright 2010 by Sunbeam Television Corp. All Rights Reserved.
