LONDON, Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Graduate job seekers are being encouraged to register for the Gradu8 Fair, the UK's leading graduate recruitment event, which takes place between 8th - 12th November 2010.

Unlike other graduate jobs fairs, this recruitment event is being hosted online, which means there is no need to travel to a large exhibition hall and compete with the crowds. Professionals are on hand to answer questions, give out tips and information, and can be accessed in a 'virtual' meeting place, letting graduates receive the advice they need with a few clicks of a mouse.

Graduates can register for the fair by visiting Gradu8.com, where they'll be required to submit their email address, a password, their qualification and year of graduation. In addition, graduate job seekers can submit a topic they think is worthy of discussion at the careers fair, such as starting salary expectations, transferable skills and internships.

The Gradu8 Fair has been organised by online jobs portal totaljobs.com, whose Graduate Zone features almost 6,000 vacancies for graduate job seekers. Designed to remove the hassle from job searching, graduates can receive tailored advice, receive daily email alerts with relevant positions and take advantage of 'one click apply', which allows applicants to upload their CV and submit a cover letter at the click of a button.

With totaljobs.com's Graduate Survey revealing that 81.29 per cent of graduate job seekers believe that employment prospects are tougher now than they were two years ago. Following these reports, Gradu8 Fair will explore graduate recruitment's latest developments, such as personal online brands and the use of social media.

These will be discussed in a series of seminars over the course of the five-day event, and one of the most popular is likely to be 'How is my online presence used by Graduate Recruiters?'. Featuring recruitment experts and industry professionals, the seminar will discuss whether recruiters are using social media to fill vacancies; the main sites and how recruiters are using them and what recruiters want and do not want to see from applicants.

Other seminars will discuss what to do if graduates hear nothing after they've applied for a position, whether recruiters are likely to check applicants' Facebook or Twitter profiles and, for those escaping the country to go travelling for a while, how to have a productive, career-relevant gap year.

The Gradu8 Fair isn't just about graduate job seekers, though. It's also a chance for companies and organisations to showcase their credentials and graduate recruitment prospects. Representatives from PWC, KPMG, Accenture and Boots have already confirmed their attendance, while help and advice will also be on hand from ACCA, Train2Game and IBM.

According to totaljobs.com's Graduate Survey, 93.25 per cent of respondents feel as though they have the necessary skills to start an entry-level graduate role at a company. While there's little doubt that the graduate jobs market is a tough one, graduate job seekers registering for the Gradu8 Fair can give themselves a helping hand by being a part of the country's leading online graduate recruitment event.
